On Monday, my husband used his "Industry Hook-ups" to get me tickets to a live taping of Dancing With the Stars! For those of you who don't know, I am a huge reality show nerd and this happens to be one of my favorites. I never vote, but watch every week. And it was super fun seeing it in person. We had great seats, right behind the judges, although you never saw us on TV because it was so dark! Oh well.
I took my brother, who is in town working on the business with me right now. Otherwise, it would have been difficult to find someone. These tapings take place at like 3:30 in the afternoon, so you either have to call in sick to work or make some other arrangements. Luckily, my schedule is flexible and the boss approved. :) I didn't know what brother would think about it - having to get all dressed up and sitting through something like that, but he had a blast. When we watched it back on Tivo, we kept pausing and rewinding to reminisce about being there.
I wish I could've taken some pictures, but of course they are pretty strict with that sort of thing at a studio taping. And nothing really dramatic happened behind the scenes or anything. It was pretty much what you see is what you get. But I loved seeing the dances live - they look so much more sparkly and elegant. (And Cristian de la Fuente looks muy caliente up close). Not to mention how funny the host Tom Bergeron is right before the cameras start rolling. He is so quick-witted and personable. And apparently a VERY quick wardrobe changer. By the time we got out of the studio, he was already in jeans and a t-shirt, ready to drive off in his Prius.We also got to see a couple of the professional male dancers outside after the shoot and WOW. They looked so much better in jeans and baseball caps than those silly outfits they have to wear during the show. But I guess that's all part of the dance.
My only regret is that I didn't go to a taping earlier in the season, when I would have had the chance to see Julianne Hough dance with Adam Carolla. Seriously. Julianne Hough is super hot. And what can you say about Adam Carolla? He was so funny and clumsy that he came across charming and lovable.I wish I knew how to dance!

And once again I am living vicarously(don't know how to spell it so i hope you know what word I am trying to say) through you! Which I love!!! How stinkin' fun!!! Can I just plan a trip by myself to come see you and you entertain me? hahah That is just so cool! So did Jake like it? I was just bragging to Allyson how you get to do all this cool stuff!
