The Wolfman

First off, I do NOT do scary movies. (Honestly. My husband and I have known each other for a LONG time and we've never seen a horror movie together.) But for some weird reason, the trailers for this looked sooo cool to me. I was a little nervous going in, because I was sure there would be some frightening moments. And there were a couple spots that made me jump, but mostly this movie gave me the giggles. It reminded me of a campy horror movie instead of this cool, epic, modern Wolfman. Every time he would rip someone's arm out or knock someone's head clean off, I would laugh! I'm sure the people around me just loved that. But I couldn't help it. It was too cheesy. One thing I liked was the costumes. When it wasn't CGI, it looked pretty good. I guess they tried keeping it close to the original. (?) I haven't seen the old one, but that's what some people were saying.

Unfortunately they should have updated it instead. It could have been so much better - and a lot less predictable!

Well, just like the summer games in '08...

I have caught Olympic Fever.

Like, totally hooked.

My husband thinks competition like this is the way we should fight wars. Yesterday was a great day for the U.S. - from Speed Skating to Downhill Alpine Racing to Snowboarding Half-Pipe. I literally watched on the edge of my seat. But along with the victories, there were some heavy crashes. And I feel the heartbreak when people's Olympic dreams come to an end so quickly. They get this one chance. They've been training for it non-stop for years. And then it's over. Like poor Lindsey JacobEllis. She's gonna need some therapy after what happened the last 2 winter games. I felt so bad for her!

But what an amazing ride. Tonight we watch the weirdness of men's figure skating. Don't get me wrong, they are great athletes, but... you know. Men's Figure Skating. Even the news headlines are calling it "Blades of Glory". It's almost too awkward to look away.

My B-Day! (B-Week?)

I'm 31 now. Thirty-one!!! Totally IN my 30's. Officially.

My birthday plans didn't pan out at all like I thought they would, but in some ways that was better. We just rolled with the punches and ended up having a great time. I got a surprise from my girlfriends who took me out for lunch and a mani/pedi. (So fun!) My husband took me out for a FAB dinner at my favorite steak house. The in-laws treated me to a night of pizza and good company. We also got together with all the friends and went for cheeseburgers and miniature golf. So over the course of the last week, I've had a pretty awesome celebration!

I'm really grateful for the all the people in my life who thought of me and took even a second to acknowledge that. From cards, to phone calls to little old Facebook comments... It all melts my heart.

So 31. It's kind of weird. Like, I was talking to my husband today about how I don't FEEL like I'm 31. I guess a more accurate statement would be that I don't know how I'm SUPPOSED to feel at 31. It's a strange thing to truly understand and embrace your age. I know I'm a completely different person than who I was at 21, but I don't feel older. What is 31 supposed to feel like? I guess it feels like...this. And sure, I have a long way to go with some things. But I'm OK with that.

I Will Survive

I'm too tired right now, but I will explain later. :D

January

January is typically a good month. We start a fresh year, it's the month of my birthday, the weather is awesome (not too hot, not too cold). This January has been no exception. I haven't been particularly busy. But I've had a photography job here and there, I've gone to Disneyland a few times, I've applied for a couple part-time jobs and and I've been slowly finishing some things in the house. So it's all good. Things are good.

Even just this week has been lots of fun. On Monday, I got to attend a taping of The Ellen Degeneres Show. It was a long day with a lot of waiting, but when the show finally started, it was awesome! We even scored with the swag since it was her birthday show. Very exciting.

Yesterday, I spent the afternoon painting. I actually got my inspiration from another painting I saw and figured I'd give it a shot. Here's how it turned out:

It's pretty big and I have no idea where it will go, but I've had that blank canvas sitting around for awhile, so I'm glad I finally decided what to put on it. I hate how the Eiffel Tower turned out, but am not quite sure how to fix it. So the weirdness of it will just have to add to the character of the painting. Haha.

I also just found out that DMB announced their summer tour!!! It's MONTHS away, but it's time to start getting excited. I think I'm honestly a little relieved each year that they announce it, because you're never sure when they'll get tired of being on the road. And I'm not ready for it to end!

So here we are almost to the end of January, but 2010 is looking pretty good so far. Pre-tty, pre-tty good. Now if Conan can get back on TV sooner than later, life will be complete.
